Windows
Server 2012 Essentials Upgrade receives error code: 80072EE2
Q: We are
running Windows Server 2012 Essentials as VM on A Windows Server 2012 host.
When attempting to run Windows Update, we get this error code: 80072EE2. How
can we fix it?
Case 1: We fixed the
problem by disabling all offloading on both physical and virtual NIC. Case 2:
If you migrate SBS to Windows
Server 2012 Essentials, you may have this issue. The Windows 2012 Essentials
server may try to connect to the old WSUS server (The SBS2008 server) to
verify the update information. Normally, after migrating to the Windows 2012
Essentials domain, we will demote the old SBS2008 server in the new domain,
so the Windows 2012 Essentials failed to get the update from the old SBS2008
server, and then we got the error message “0x80072ee2”. You may try the following
steps to fix the issue: 1.
Open the “Group Policy Management” console on the Windows 2012
Essentials server. 2.
Expand “Domains”, expand “<domain.local>”, and then expand “Group
Policy Objects”. 3.
Please check if the following GPOs are existing: Update Services Client
Computers Policy Update Services Common
Settings Policy Update services Server
Computers Policy Windows SBS Client – Windows Windows SBS Client – Windows
XP Policy Windows SBS Client Policy Windows SBS CSE Policy Windows SBS User Policy
If yes, please delete the
GPOs above, then run the “gpupdate /force” command on the Windows
2012 Essentials server, and then please reboot the Windows 2012 Essentials
server. After that, please check if
we can run the Windows Update on the Windows 2012 Essentials server
successfully.
