How to assess network vulnerability

1. After scanning your network for security vulnerabilities, click Analyze and then Scan Results.

2. Under the Scan Results Overview, it displays information related to the scan performed on target computers. This includes number of vulnerabilities found, system
patching status, network and software audit.

3. Under Scan Results Details, it displays the details of the scan results. This includes vulnerability or missing patch name, level of patch/vulnerability, detailed
vulnerability/missing patch details, connected device information, etc.

4. To view the security vulnerabilities identified on the target computer, click o the Vulnerability Assessment of the computer node . There five type and severity groups as follows:

• High Security Vulnerabilities
• Low Security Vulnerabilities
• Potential vulnerabilities
• Missing Service Packs
• Missing Patches

5. Assess vulnerabilities

Scan report divides vulnerabilities as three catalogs, High Security Vulnerabilities, Low Security Vulnerabilities and Potential Vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities are organized into the following groups:

* Mail, FTP, RPC, DNS servers.
* Supported web servers such as Apache, Netscape, and Microsoft IIS.
* The registry settings of  the scanned network device(s).

* Software installed on the scanned network device(s).
* Rootkit installed on the scanned network device(s).

* Potential vulnerabilities such as VPN, IPSec, dial-up and multihomed devices.

6. Assess Missing Service Packs/Patches
The Missing Service Packs and Missing Patches allow you to check for missing Microsoft software updates or patches. Missing Microsoft Patches and Service Packs in Microsoft Operation Systems may make your network more likely to be exploited by malicious users, hackers and virus writers.
