How to setup Folder Redirection

This article provides step by step how to setup Folder Redirection using Group Policy. In our example, we want to redirect Guest group’ My Documents to

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers from the Administrative Tools.
2. Follow this link to create a group policy: How to create a new OU
3. Navigate to the following location in the Group Policy Object: User Configuration\Windows Settings\Folder Redirection.
4. Right-click on My Documents in the right-hand pane and select Properties. (See Figure 1)
5. In Setting, select Advanced – Specify locations for various user groups if you want to have more than one groups to be added to the policy.
6. Click Add. That will open another window (see figure 2). Select the guest group. In the target location, select the path, for example, d:\users.
7. Click OK to close it.
