What's DDNS

The DDNS (Dynamic DNS) translates a dynamic IP address to a static hostname. The DDNS is for a home or small business to host their website, access their file server remotely while they have a dynamic public IP for their Internet service.

ERROR: Remote Security Gateway domain name problem

Cause: The DDNS hasn't  been updated.

I have an account with dyndns but get "block for abuse"

1. For DDNS software, the client is setup to send updates at timed intervals, or at system doesn't check the IP address while it has actually changed.
2. For hardware users, blocks are usually caused by clients updating on every DHCP lease renewal or every time you power cycle the hardware device.

My DDNS log lists error "nohost"

Cause: incorrect configuration.

My DDNS log lists error "! yours"

Cause: you have registered the DDNS or the hostname/IP conflits with some one's hostname/IP.

My Linksys router show "DDNS Server Update is successful" but no one can ping it

DDNS on some router may not work or reliable.
