How to Use Windows System Restore

The System Restore feature is built into Windows XP, Vista and windows 7. With System Restore, you can restore your system to an earlier state if you have a system failure or get virus or sypware with your computer. In our example, we will try to restore a Windows Vista system.

1. To use the System Restore Wizard, make sure you're logged on as an administrator.

2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.

3. On the Restore System files and settings, and click Next to continue.

4. On the Choose a restore point page, select the date from the calendar that shows the point you'd like to restore to, as shown in Figure 2, and then click Next.

5. On the Confirm your Restore Point windows, click Finish to start the restore.

Click Next if you are ready to proceed or click Back to change the restore point.

6. The computer will shut down automatically and reboot. On reboot, you'll see the Restoration Complete page, and then click OK.
