Procedure of migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013  - Step by step with screenshots 

 

1. Installing Exchange 2007, Windows server and client update

Installing Exchange and Windows server updates

Updating Outlook 2010 and 2007 Clients

* Outlook 2010 Service Pack 1 with at least the November 2012 update (Build 14.0.6126.5000 or higher)

* Outlook 2007 Service Pack 3 with at least the November 2012 update (Build 12.0.6665.5000 or higher)

No Outlook 2003 and XP – Note: We do have some users who are using XP. Our resolution is creating RemoteApp for them.

2. Collecting exchange 2007 configuration and information - Internal and External URLs for Outlook Web App, The Offline Address Book and ActiveSync. The Exchange host name for Outlook Anywhere. The AutoDiscover URL. The Certificate of Exchange URL. 

3. Installing Pre-requisites on windows 2012 R2 server

1) Installing the Schema update - setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

2) Preparing Active Directory - setup.exe /PrepareAD /IacceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

3) Preparing Domains - setup.exe /PrepareDomain /IacceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms

4) Installing Exchange 2013 Pre-requisites.

4. Installing the Exchange 2013 – Mailboxes and Client Access.

5. Post-Installation Configuration – login EAC using http \ecp. Installing certificate, Configuring Exchange URLs, Configuring Outlook Anywhere, Configuring Transport/ Send Connectors and Receive Connectors, updating DNS. Updating Mail Routing, Migrating Mailboxes, Decommissioning Exchange 2007.

6. remove Exchange 2007 - use Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features.
