How to change a service port using SERVICES

In our example, we will change NDMP port to use 12000. By default, NDMP port is 10000. In this example, other software is using the TCP port 10000. We need to change it to 12000.

1. Run Notepad and open the SERVICES file located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\

2. Add this entry: ndmp 12000/tcp #NDMP TCP port

At the end of the line press ENTER so that the cursor goes down to the next blank line. If the ENTER key is not pressed at the end of the NDMP line, the change will not take effect.

3. After making the change, save the file and restart the service.
